Position Details

  • Ct Technologist
  • To perform CT examinations within the units/clinics and the Medical Imaging Department of the American Hospital .To be part of all procedures and processes that allow the Medical Imaging Department in providing a high standard of service and patient care by assessing, monitoring, participating and assisting in the daily administration duties, infection control /risk management, quality improvement and departmental / hospital wide in-services.

Responsibilities

  • The CT technologist integrates scientific knowledge, technical competence and patient interaction skills to provide safe and accurate procedures with compassion.
  • A CT technologist recognizes patient conditions essential for the successful completion of the procedure.
  • The technologists independently perform or assist the licensed independent practitioner in the completion of diagnostic, therapeutic, interventional and fusion CT procedures.
  • CT technologists prepare, administer and document activities related to medications in accordance with state and federal regulations or lawful institutional policy.
  • The CT technologist is the primary liaison between patients, licensed independent practitioners, and other members of the support team.
  • CT technologists must remain sensitive to the needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring and patient care skills.
  • As members of the health care team, magnetic resonance technologists participate in quality improvement processes and continually assess their professional performance.
  • CT technologists think critically and use independent, professional and ethical judgments in all aspects of their work.
  • They engage in continuing education to include their area of practice to enhance patient care, public education, knowledge and technical competence
  • Basic understanding of personal computers; computer literacy preferred.
  • The Technologist is responsible for daily operations of the CT scanner, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA).
  • The Technologist maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.
  • Uses cognitive CT skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
  • Uses independent judgment during the CT exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Analyses, synthesizes CT information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Coordinates work schedule with Departmental Director and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the CT environment care.
  • Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospitals, referral.
  • Performs all requested CT examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
  • Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.
  • Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the problems.
  • Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required.
  • Reports equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member.
  • Provides in-service education team on requirements of CT procedures as requested by other members of the health care team.
  • Responds promptly and positively to patients, families, co-workers and all others in a respectful , courteous and confidential manner Selecting appropriate imaging acquisition with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • Post processing digital data for display or hard copy records, ensuring proper identification is evident.
  • Verifying informed consent for applicable procedures.
  • Assuming responsibility for patient needs during procedures.
  • Preparing patients for procedures.
  • Applying principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
  • Performing venipuncture as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Starting, maintaining and/or removing intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Identifying, preparing and/or administering medications as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Evaluating images for technical quality and ensuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Identifying and responding to emergency situations.
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Maintaining archival storage of digital data as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates cooperation, coordination, and respect among individuals/departments in order to provide excellent customer service ( internal and external)
  • Provides Arabic-English interpretation/translation, both verbal and written, as required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be culturally sensitive.
  • Participates in customer service training and continuing education.
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with patient complaints
  • Responds to patients positively and politely
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Medical Imaging
  • At least Three (3) years of recent experience in Radiology , with current clinical experience of (2)years in CT
  • CT technologists must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, human physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology.
  • They must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and CT technique.
  • Technologists must possess, use and maintain knowledge about radiation, magnetic protection and safety.
  • Evidence of continuing education.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Middle Eastern customs is advantageous
