Position Details
- Core Lab Supervisor
- The Core lab & Total Laboratory Automation Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of their respective Core lab & Total Laboratory Automation in the Laboratory, including training and supervision of assigned staff, Quality Improvement, Internal and External Quality Control, Trouble-shooting of Total Laboratory Automation, Supervising the Proficiency Testing regime, Materials Management, Statistics, Method evaluation and setup, Ensure the laboratory s protocols ongoing compliance to CAP and JCIA standards, Information management, Communication, Safety and daily Bench requirements.
Responsibilities
- Operates & Controls Siemens Total Laboratory Automation system including Atellica Data Manager, Sample handler, Decapper module, and Atellica Magline.
- Daily maintenance of automation equipment for all work cycles. Includes: replenishing reagents and consumables and supplies, supervision of continuous and smooth operation
- Manages the Quality Control Program by arranging scheduled QC on Atellica Data Manager
- Coordinates communication for the business with Siemens support staff, to identify, document and resolve problems and issues.
- Work in partnership with Specimen Processing, Technical Operations, and Biomedical Engineering teams
- Effectively communicates up and down stream of the specimen flow
- Coordinate College of American Pathologists & Joint Commission International requirements for Technical Operations [Manual and Automated].
- Responsible for daily operations of automation.
- Develop and implement Standard Work / Operating Procedures for Technical Support in accordance with the Laboratory s guidelines.
- Reviews Technical Operations Standard Work / Operating Procedure Manual on an annual basis and ensures departmental compliance. Identifies need for revisions and/or additional SOPs as indicated.
- Ensures all Laboratory QA/QC documentation is complete and reviewed as required.
- Work in a participative manner that actively encourages and supports employee involvement.
- Disseminate all essential information in a timely manner, using various forms of communication to all departmental staff.
- Tabulate monthly, yearly, and any other statistical data as required.
- Investigates/resolves and responds effectively in a timely manner to internal and external customer complaints.
- Oversee and ensure adequate supply inventory for department.
- Participate in the interviewing and training of new employees.
- Assists in staff assessment and development.
- Promotes a safe working environment.
- Promotes ethical practices & maintain patient confidentiality
- Supervise the Proficiency Testing program and reviews results.
- Perform Method Evaluation, Validation and Set-up
- Perform periodic review of methods and staff competence assessment records.
- Perform daily bench support as required.
- Prepare Monthly Schedule for technical staff assigned.
Requirements
- BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science or Biomedical Science/ Similar Discipline
- Current/Valid DHA License or Eligibility Letter
- Minimum of five (5) years experience post qualification in related field, Previous supervisory experience is preferrable.
- Knowledge of Core lab & Total Laboratory Automation
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory and general computer applications is preferred.
