Position Details

  • The Associate Director Urban Design role sits within the Urbanism + Planning practice line and translates strategic direction and leads a medium sized business unit, function or geographic operation, including operational, financial and people result

Responsibilities

  • Peer review work done by the team and in instances take lead on projects design and projects presentation and communication with clients
  • Review and manage commercial performance of projects and provide guidance
  • Report on performance and compliance of staff and projects to management and provide mitigation plans where necessary
  • Attend creative urban design project reviews and design sessions and steer projects directions Ensure diversity in the workforce and guarantee equal growth opportunities across the team members
  • Attend interviews and assist/facilitate placement of new hires where needed
  • Review and provide feedback to senior management on head count and hiring strategies
  • Promote teamwork and a creative culture within the practice
  • Deliver thought leadership presentations and inspire peers and reports Provide all tools and required collaboration means for Urban designer to deliver inspiring projects
  • Maintain market and client communications around the studio design ethos
  • Be an ambassador for the brand and its vision

Requirements

  • Minimum 18+ years experience in the Urban Design field, candidates would ideally have worked on government and private sector projects
  • Management experience is required as the successful candidate would lead a multi-disciplinary team
  • Bachelors degree in Architecture or Urban Design
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Professional membership in Urban Design or Architecture eg RIBA or equivalent required
